A Day for the Dogs

August 26th, National Dog Day, is dedicated to our four-legged companions that never leave our side, and to recognize all the dogs that need to be rescued each year. According to the Humane Society of the United States, “An estimated 2.7 million healthy shelter pets are not adopted each year, and only about 30 percent of pets in homes come from shelters or rescues.

Dogs put their lives on the line every day – for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for a child who is disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.’ – www.nationaldogday.com
